Over 1000 Students Ran to End Period Poverty at IISER Bhopal
On February 18th, 2024, the Lal Sakhi Foundation organized a marathon at IISER Bhopal to raise awareness about period poverty. The event, themed “Run for a Cause – End Period Poverty” saw many students participate. Many people in India still don't have access to basic menstrual hygiene products. This affects their health, education, and self-confidence. Lal Sakhi’s mission is to change that by starting conversations, breaking taboos, and making sanitary products available to those in need.
Coming Together for a Cause
Students from all departments joined hands, some ran, some walked, and everyone came together to show that menstrual health matters. It wasn’t about speed, it was about standing up for something important.
Learning Along the Way
The event also had awareness booths where students could learn more about periods, hygiene, and how to use reusable menstrual products. Many students said it was the first time they felt comfortable asking questions or sharing what they knew.
What Lal Sakhi Hopes To Do
The Lal Sakhi Foundation wants to make sure that no one misses school or feels ashamed just because of their period. They’re working hard to provide products, start conversations and fight the stigma around menstruation.
